Empowering Women through Communication Skills & Productivity Enhancement

This program have been carried out using a collaborative approach between Universiti Malaya, Selangor Zakat Board and Selayang Community College. This project was conducted to address the problem of communicating among the Gombak district ASNAF and at the same time solving the rising cost of living faced by them by raising the household income of project participants through small businesses. A total of 50 asnaf and single mothers were involved in the project. cooperation factors, similarities and shared goals are also emphasized in this project. This project was carried out in three main phases namely co-creation, formation & implementation and project evaluation.

Project Execution: 9 months
Location: Gombak

Numbers of Community benifited: 50 people

Output of the project

  • Through the analysis and feedback from the participant, 80% of them have increased their family income more than RM500 a month.
  • 11 potential participant have get the funding of RM 5,000 in form of material{ Sewing machine, Flour mixer etc) and RM2,000 for rolling capital from LZS to start up their small business- All of them have started the business and increasing their monthly income more than 100%.

Objectives

  1. Improve communication skills amongst the Selangor state ASNAF
  2. express the importance of communicating skills to enhance self-esteem and use it in entrepreneurship
  3. Explain communication strategies in online and conventional marketing
  4. Produce small industrial products to increase household income
