Helping the children of SK Lanai and the Pos Pantos community achieve water independence through resource management and English-integrated environmental modules.
This project addresses the water crisis faced by Sekolah Kebangsaan Lanai, where children in hostels often had to return home due to low water supply. By educating students on water sustainability—integrated into English language classes—and building a cubic meter retention tank, the project ensures the community can manage and maintain their vital hill water source even during hot seasons.
Collaborating with TESCO (M) Sdn Bhd and the Jabatan Kebajikan Orang Asli, the UM team mobilized villagers to build concrete retaining walls and fix pipes. This hands-on involvement empowered the community to take ownership of their infrastructure, ensuring long-term technical sustainability and consistent water flow for examinee students.
This project significantly contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring clean water access and quality education for marginalized rural communities.
