About CAKnA

The Citra Akademik untuk Komuniti dan Alam (CAKnA) Program is a Universiti Malaya initiative designed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration among academic and administrative staff and students within Academic Responsibility Centres. By addressing campus and community challenges through holistic, innovative, and high-impact strategies, the program enhances social awareness, strengthens internal relationships, builds leadership capacity, and delivers meaningful community outcomes. CAKnA exemplifies UM's profound commitment to societal engagement and institutional innovation.

Program Alignment & Impact

Core Goals of the CAKnA Program

  • To increase by 80% the reporting of community-related programs/projects at UM;
  • To increase by 80% the involvement of Responsibility Centres (RCs) in addressing community issues;
  • To integrate experiential learning with real-life experiences to enhance student learning;
  • To provide a platform for students, academic staff, and non-academic staff to contribute their knowledge, expertise, and experiences in creating a positive impact on the community; and
  • To promote collaboration between the university and the community in strengthening social, economic, and environmental development.
