Majlis DIY Made Simple 2025

The DIY Made Simple 2025 final stage, held from 2 to 4 September 2025 at Universiti Malaya, marked the culmination of a six-month nationwide competition co-organized by Yayasan MR. D.I.Y. and UMCares. The initiative encouraged secondary school students to design innovative Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects under the theme **“Waste to Energy – Innovate for a Greener Future.”**

Sixteen finalist teams presented their prototypes, showcasing creative ways to convert waste materials into usable energy. This competition exemplified UMCares’ dedication to youth empowerment through STEM education, encouraging future generations to think critically, act sustainably, and apply creative problem-solving skills to real-world environmental challenges. The event concluded with the Majlis Penyampaian Hadiah, celebrating outstanding student achievements.

The YES (Youth Empowerment for Sustainability) Programme Finalist Presentation provided a professional platform for young innovators to showcase their sustainability-driven projects to a panel of evaluators, including university representatives, industry partners, and community development experts.

Each team highlighted the design, implementation, and community impact of their initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This session encouraged critical reflection and peer learning to refine project scalability and long-term sustainability, reflecting UMCares’ continued commitment to empowering youth leadership and civic responsibility.

The UM x KAO MoU Ceremony formalized a significant partnership between Universiti Malaya and KAO Corporation to advance sustainability education and environmental innovation. The event featured the official signing ceremony and engagement sessions between UM and KAO representatives, promoting collaboration between academia and industry.

This collaboration aims to foster eco-conscious practices, community involvement, and research-based initiatives, strengthening university–industry partnerships and directly supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
